  1. Honoring A Special Member
I would like to honor one of our very special members a person who has dedicated a large portion of his life to helping his community. The Southeast Queens Camera Club is very fortunate to have him as a member of our family. The person that I’m referring to is Mr. Judson Dinkins. Judson had a positive impact on the formation of the club from the very beginning. At our very first community meeting when we were discussing the possibility of forming a camera club in our community he was one of our strongest supporters.

He became our first Treasurer and served in that position for over four years. His keen sense of moral conduct has help to guide the club up a positive road of success. He has vigorously supported our programs while offering positive critiques. He has been very generous to this club both morally and financially. For example, on a personal note: When I had my hip surgery a couple of years ago, Judson volunteered to take me to my post op appointments at the Hospital for Special Surgery. Now that is not an easy trip.

I did not ask him to do that he just volunteered. That is just the kind of person he is, someone who just want to do the right thing. We are just so fortunate to have him and people like him in our club. You know, too often Black people especially men, don’t get the recognition that we deserve until we are on “the other side”. We hear a lot about the “dead beat fathers”, parole violators and drug addicts, but not enough about the good fathers, and good family men who participate in their communities. So we need to tell those untold stories. Our people need to know that we recognize their kindness while they can still appreciate our feelings. That is way I’m writing this note about Judson Dinkins. I truly appreciate all he has done and I want him to know it ……….now!

  2. i am only a member for a short time, but he made me feel very welcome and helped me out a great deal in ways he may never know and for that i thank judson, thank you , have a great summer and im looking forward to next season with you.

  3. I could’t agree with you more Judson is the soul of the camera club. Not only did he step up for me at my first post op office visit but I know that he provided transportation for a number of the members to the PFLI Spring Spectacular.

I also agree with you that using this forum will help us strengthen the club. We can us it to clarify information we might have missed at the meeting or pose a question which might come up between meetings.

  4. Judson Dinkins is a gentleman and a scholar. I have the utmost respect for him. Judson encouraged my grandson Michael to enter his alma mater, Morehouse College, last year. Michael is now a sophomore at the House. Judson is without doubt a mentor to young black men and we need more men like him. He has unselfishly supported our camera club from the very beginning with his time, knowledge, monetary contributions and providing transportation for members when the need arises. Thank you, Judson. May Almighty God continue to bless you.

  5. I vividly remember the night 6 years ago at our Open House as we presented the suggestion of the creation of the Southeast Queens Camera Club. Judson was there and shared his strong desire for the birth of the Club. He has supported us in many, many ways over these years .. and continues to do so today.
Judson is a strong voice in the SEQCC .. and continues to give of himself way beyond what’s required.
In my church we sing the song: “If I can help somebody …then my living will not be in vain.” This personifies Judson as he works with SEQCC .. and with so many of us individually.
Judson is quite a guy .. and I’m very glad that he’s with us in the SEQCC.

  6. I took a look at your gallery on Coppermine. That would be a great way for me to share some pictures I took at a Boy Scout ceremony where my cousin’s grandson was installed as an Eagle Scout. That’s an achievement not reached by very many from our community.

  7. Judson is a beautiful soul. I had an immediate connection with him when I joined SEQCC. He has a warm smile that says welcome, and a sweet, sweet spirit that let me know I could ask him anything and he would take the time to answer. During my first few weeks at SEQCC I tried to find a seat near him because the warmth of his spirit made me feel very comfortable.
